TRACEABILITY 1st LEVEL:
LOT NUMBER OF THE PACK
Lot: products of the same reference, manufactured on the same day.
MacoPharma lot numbers are identified as follows: 2847 03G16

  • » First 4 digits: production serial number relevant to the specific pack
  • » Next 2 digits: year of production
  • » One letter: month of production (A: January, B: February, L: December)
  • » Final 2 digits: day of production (01, 02, 31)
  • » The lot and reference numbers of the system are transcribed into eye-readab le and appropriate barcoding formats (ISBT 128 barcoding,...).
TRACEABILITY 2nd LEVEL:
IDENTIFICATION OF THE MANUFACTURING TOOLS
  • » Tools are used to produce the parts (bags, tubes, spikes, Y junctions).
  • » Each tool is engraved in order to identify the part made with that tool.
  • » It is possible to trace existing combinations used (welding tools, injection molds).
TRACEABILITY 3rd LEVEL:
IDENTIFICATION OF EXACT TIME OF MANUFACTURE (FILTERS, BAGS)
  • » 1000's of bags and filters are manufactured every hour with the same tools.
  • » A serial number is printed on each individual bag and filter. This number is the only way to locate a defect which may be time dependent.
TRACEABILITY 4th LEVEL:
FULL TRACEABILITY THROUGH ELECTRONIC CHIPS
  • » MacoPharma is also working on a new way to ensure complete traceability of the packs with the addition of data storage chips on individual bags.
  • » This option will need cooperation from all sectors of transfusion.
